My family has been having a ball and enjoying lots of quality time together using the ideas found in our SUMMER OF PLAY GUIDE, but it's hard to believe we are already halfway through the season. We kicked off summer by finding a number of ways to incorporate water into our play, delighting and cooling off the kids at the same time; we created games and fun family activities inspired by our favorite children's books; tried out playtime tips from the winners of KaBOOM!'s America's Most Playful Family contest; and revisited classic backyard games from our '70s childhoods.
Now we are sharing play ideas using what today's kids are really into: technology! There are many creative ways to incorporate current technology into family playtime, and no, I don't mean handing the kids an iPad or iPhone and walking away while they play their millionth game of Angry Birds. Instead, harness the kids' interest in these devices and turn what often becomes a battleground for parents into a tool that can enhance family playtime.
